Big heads

In South Africa, the blog awards season kicks off with the SA Blog Awards. It tends to swell your head when nominated so be careful when running through doorways!

Top 5 Scroobls for February

Introduction

So I realised that I only do 22 Scroobls a month meaning its not such a big thing to be in the top 10 list (out of 22) so from now on, its the top 5!

5.  Twitter Bandwagon

4. How Online Marketers really Spend their day

3. TFL Fail Whale

Thanks in part to @anniemole giving it coverage on her great blog.

2. Does anyone at Facebook know what the hell they are doing?

1. How to really turn a geek on

Even though I published this one last year, it is back with a vengeance thanks to some heavy Stumble love. It is now top contender to take the title of most popular Scroobl for the first half of 2009.

Does anyone at Facebook know what the hell they are doing

click Scroobl for full size

Taking a short break from the#Twestival Scroobls today, I just had to say something about Facebook's privacy policy shenanigans.

So Facebook reveals that they have suddenly decided that they own everything you put on Facebook which is of course audacious. The announcements leaves privacy rights activists, hippies and geeks with jaws dropped to the ground. Not for long though as just about the entire world goes mental and within 24 hours, Facebook reveals their lack of spine and hits a 180 degree u-turn on the policy. Read about it in the beeb here.

My favourite bit of all this though, is that the new (but now revoked) privacy policy is front page of the Metro this morning the same time it has actually been revoked. Good on you traditional media, always 3 days behind the news! So most people are going to spend the next few days sweating over the fact that their 'dodgy model shoot’ images are owned by Facebook until the newspapers catch on again and publish a little article about it on page 21 because the story isn't that sensational anymore and also possibly to avoid any embarrassment.

Drinking at Twestival

The second of my three #Twestival inspired Scroobls this week. I marveled at the juxtaposition between the huge availability of booze at Twestival and the shortage of water we were all coming together to help fix. If drinking was always for charity, I would be a generous giver indeed!

Meeting friends at Twestival

The first of my three #Twestival inspired Scroobls this week. Although Twestival was an amazing success and a brilliantly put together idea, it wasn't the best event for meeting your Twitter mates in real life.

Squeezed this one in just before going on down to London #Twestival at some random restaurant. Really living the digital nomad life!

How Online Marketers spend their day

I must however comment that this is not a breakdown of MY average work day! I seem to find myself way too busy these days to pass Lolcats around!

The Twitter bandwagon

click Scroobl for full size

Twitter seems to be in the mainstream media everyday at the moment and is attracting a whole new audience trying to jump on the bandwagon. All of a sudden I'm getting followed by Network marketers, real estate agents and spammers. Is this the end of the niche magic of Twitter?

A lesson learnt from the snow day

click Scroobl for full size

If there's one lesson to be learnt from the snow days, is that the country would have lost a lot less money if more companies had a work-from-home-programme in place. That way, people could have still worked without braving the snow. Something to think about...
